  • Polyhedra: Construction of Convex and Non- Convex Polyhedra models
The study of polyhedrons have applications in Animation Graphics, Networking, Designing of Automobiles, Tile industry, Topological spaces (Manifolds), Architecture and also in Chemistry (Lattices), etc., Polyhedrons are in nature, to name a few, Silicon is the form of Tetrahedrons, Alluminium, Copper, Iron occurs in the form of Dodecahedrons, Fullerene (Carbon 60) is Icosahedron, HIV virus is Icosahedron and so on. Polyhedra or Polyhedrons is a solid in 3 dimensions with flat polygonal faces( a minimum of 4 faces), straight edges and sharp corners or vertices. They can be classified as Convex and Nonconvex polyhedrons. A convex polyhedral are the ones whose surface does not intersect itself or the line segment joining any two points of the polyhedron is contained in the interior or on the surface. The Polyhedrons which are not convex are called Non-Convex polyhedra. Also they can be classified as Regular or Non Regular Polyhedra. Regular polyhedral are Isohedral (same faces), Isogonal (equal corners) and Isotoxal (equal sides) and Non regular polyhedral are those which are not Regular.
    • Theory of Polyhedrons : 02 hours
    • Making of Templates : 02 hours
    • Training of Convex Polyhedrons : 18 hours
    • Training of Non-Convex Polyhedrons : 18 hours
    • The Duration of the Certificate Course is for 40 hours
    • Maximum Course intake : 30 students

  • MATH – PYTHON : Elementary Python Programming for Mathematical Calculations
The programming in PYTHON is widespread and has become the most commonly used language. The Course is designed with the objective to enhance the programming skills for UG/PG students/faculty. After the completion of the course students would have learnt, Downloading and installing packages, Basic commands in python, Programming techniques, Numerical programs, Algebra related programs, Differential calculus programs, Integral Calculus programs, Analysis programs, Plotting and graphs, Other related programs.
The Duration of the Certificate Course is for 50 hours
    Maximum Course intake : 50 students/faculty

  • LATEX AND LATEX BEAMER FOR RESEARCH: Typesetting and Documentation conducive for Research articles and Books

    • LaTEX is widely used in academia for communication and publication of scientific documents in many fields, including Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Economics, Linguistics, Quantitative Psychology, Philosophy and Political Science.

It also has a prominent role in the preparation and publication Books and Articles. LaTEX BEAMER is a LaTEX document class for creating Slides (or Frames) for presentations through a projector. It supports both Pdf LaTEX and LaTEX dvips.

It facilitates functionality of making Pdf Slides complete with colours, overlays, environments, themes, transitions etc.

After the completion of the programme, the students would be able to typeset and document any mathematical expression, which would be very much useful for typing their articles and books by themselves.

The Duration of the Certificate Course is for 50 hours

      Maximum Course intake : 50 students/faculty

CRACK-JAM : Orientating and Preparing students for the entrance test JAM conducted by IITs and IISc in Mathematics

    • This course will help the students to prepare well for the entrance test conducted by IITs and IISc for the admissions to Post graduation course.

The main objective of this programme is to orient and guide students towards higher education at IITs, NITs and IISc.

After completion of the course, students will have a clear idea of the syllabus, the pattern of the question paper and will enable them to prepare thoroughly and face the exam with confidence.

Mock tests will also be conducted at the end of each chapter.

The Duration of the Certificate Course is for 50 hours

Maximum Course intake : 50 students

    • Extension Activities

The department also boasts of social services rendered through Youth For Parivarthan YFP - where the students involve in social activities.
The department is proud of hosting workshops and seminars that trains students from Government schools to make polyhedra models.
The department also donates the elementary polyhedral models and Charts on math concepts, to Government Schools, which help them for experiential learning.
The students also visit Government Schools and Hostels sharing their knowledge of mathematics with the students paving way for a more Mathematically inclined future.

    • MATH-KNACK: On Mental ability required for all competitive UPSC/KPSC /SSC/ BANKING EXAMS

The main objective of the course is to create awareness about all the competitive examinations among students, facilitate them with suitable coaching and build confidence to face the contemporary world.

The ultimate aim of the course is to ensure better placements for the student community.

After the completion of the course, the students would have learnt the quicker/short-cut methods to solve the mental ability problems useful for all the competitive examinations.

The Duration of the Certificate Course is for 50 hours

Maximum Course intake : 50 students
