<li>Each semester shall be taken as a unit for the purpose of calculating
attendance and a student shall be considered to have put in the required
attendance for the Semester, if he has attended not less than 75% of the
number of working hours/periods in each paper/subject in each semester</li>
<li>There shall be no provision to condone shortage of attendance</li>
<li>A candidate who does not have 75% of attendance shall not be eligible to
take examination of the concerned semester. Such candidates are required to
re-attend their classes in the immediate subsequent year and on fulfilling the
required minimum attendance the candidate may be allowed to write
examination in these papers</li>
<li>A candidate who fails to statify the requirement of attendance in a semester
shall repeat that semester when offered in the immediate subsequent year.
This facility shall be available only twice for a candidate in the entire course.</li>
<li>In the case of a candidate who represents college/university, Karnataka
State/Country in Sports/NCC/NSS/Scouts and Guides/Cultural/Academic
Activity or any official activities shall be given attendance for the entire
duration of that activity based on the recommedation of the respective staff

</summary>

<li class="list-group-item">With regard to the Supreme Court Judgment and guidelines issued in 1997 to provide
for the effective enforcement of the basic human right of gender equality and guarantee
against sexual harassment and abuse, more particularly against sexual harassment at
work places, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued circulars since 1998,
to all the universities/colleges, advising them to establish a permanent cell and a committee to develop guidelines to combat sexual harassment, violence against women
and ragging at the universities and colleges. It has further advised the
universities/colleges to be proactive by developing a conducive atmosphere on the
campus for treating woman respectfully.
Keeping the UGC and the Supreme Court guidelines in view, Government Science
College has constituted a committee against sexual harassment since 2009 to provide a
healthy and congenial atmosphere to the staff and students of the college. The Sexual
Harassment Redressal committee consists of members of the faculty, administration,
student’s representative, NGO representative and Police woman is committed to:
Ø Observe the law and Supreme Court guidelines on Sexual Harassment Ø Sensitize
the campus community on gender issues Ø Addressing complaints from victims Ø

<li class="list-group-item">Ragging means ‘Any disorderly conduct whether by words spoken or written or by an
act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any other student,
indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities which causes or likely to cause annoyance,
hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a
junior student or asking the students to do any act or perform something which such
student will not in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating
a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche
of a fresher or a junior student’.<br> “Ragging in all its forms is totally banned in this institution including in its departments,
constituent units, all its premises (academic, residential, sports, kiosks, cafeteria and
the like) whether located within the campus or outside and in all means of transportation
of students whether public or private. The institution shall take strict action including but
not limited to criminal proceeding and/or cancellation of admission against those found
guilty of ragging and/or of abetting ragging and the burden of proof shall be lie on the
perpetrator of alleged ragging and not on the victim. An offence of Ragging may be
charged either on a written complaint by the affected or on independent finding of the
Anti Ragging Cell. The College is bound by the UGC Regulations on Curbing the
Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions 2009.”<br> Punishment for Ragging: Depending on the nature and gravity of the offence as
established by the Anti Ragging Committee of the University, those found guilty of
ragging shall be liable for any one or more of the following punishment. The decision of
the Anti Ragging Committee shall be final and binding. • Cancellation of admission. •
Suspension from attending classes.</li>

trained in students’ counselling by the Premiere National Institute - NIMHANS
Bangalore. Students are guided to seek counsellors who help them to overcome socio-
cultural, emotional and psychological issues. Counsellors ensure emotional wellbeing,
and promote positive attitude in students.</li>
