<p style="font-size: 20px; font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;">The department of Biotechnology has excellent infrastructure and learner centric pedagogy inculcating quality education, skills and values to make learners competent human resource. Many students are pursuing higher education in some of the prestigious universities, institutes and national laboratories in India and abroad.<br>
The department was started with UG in the year 1998, PG Biotechnology from 2001 and was a recognized research centre (2007-17), Kuvempu University. A separate block of Biotechnology was donated by Dr.K.Dinesh, co-founder of Infosys, through his Ashrya Hastha trust. Department has 3 well equipped laboratories for UG, PG, student research projects and certificate courses and classrooms equipped with A/V facility. Excellent plant tissue culture laboratory, facilities for culturing C.elegans and Bioinformatics laboratory. Animal cell culture facility is also being established.<br>
Five students from our research centre have been conferred Ph.D. degree and some have obtained M.Phil degrees. 2 DBT sponsored research projects have been completed by the faculty in the department. All PG students take up research projects leading to publications/presentations in seminars and conferences of repute.<br>
A completely updated syllabus in tandem with industry requirements is in effect. Elective subjects with specialization are offered to equip students with additional skills necessary for their career prospect. Our BT club conducts activities for UG and PG students throughout the year. BT wall magazines and displays keep students updated on the current trends of the subject. We have a department library with 800 books and eBooks and the facility is exclusively run by our students.
